Data quality

Data-quality records attach observed source problems to exact tables, columns, and definitions. Sienna uses those targets to assess each answer and keep affected charts current.

A data-quality record identifies the affected source

Observed evidence and a preferred treatment are attached to the table or column where the issue occurs. Sienna can then assess the same issue in every answer and chart that uses that source.

Observed evidence

43 of 18,420 completed orders have no customer ID in the last 90 days. Their sales remain in company totals but cannot be assigned to a customer, segment, or region.

Preferred treatment

Keep every completed order in company totals. Show unassigned sales separately in customer-level breakdowns and rates.

Unconfirmed user note

The team says most missing IDs are guest checkouts. The source does not yet identify guest orders reliably enough to apply that interpretation.

Data-quality records stay linked to affected data

Each record identifies its affected tables and columns. Sienna links the issue to dependent definitions and saved charts. Any request using those sources or definitions includes the issue in its assessment.

When a request uses any connected source or definitionThe issue is included in that request's assessment

The same issue can affect two requests differently

Sienna assesses the issue against the exact question, definitions, query, and result. Missing customer IDs do not change company totals, but they do limit a customer-segment breakdown.
